What happens when your frame arrives

Every frame that comes through our door receives careful, hands-on attention. Here is a summary of our six-step process.

Intake and Inspection
Frame is received, documented, and assessed for structural integrity. Material type is identified and any existing damage is catalogued.

Cleaning and Preparation
Ultrasonic cleaning removes oils, debris, and buildup from all surfaces and crevices. Acetate frames receive additional treatment to restore clarity and colour.

Old Lens Removal
Lenses are carefully removed using material-specific techniques -- gentle heat for acetate, controlled leverage for nylon, and precision disassembly for metal frames.

Frame Adjustment and Restoration
Temples are aligned, hinges tightened, nose pads adjusted, and the lens channel inspected. Your frame is restored to proper form before new lenses go in.

Precision Lens Fitting
Replacement lenses, precision-cut to your frame's exact orbital shape, are fitted using material-appropriate methods. Every lens is verified for secure, even seating with no gaps or pressure distortion.

Quality Control
Optical inspection, fit verification, alignment check, cosmetic review, functional testing of hinges, final cleaning, and documentation. Nothing leaves without passing every check.

Our Methodology

Our CO2 savings calculations use the conservative central estimate of ~9.0 kg CO2e saved per lens replacement compared to purchasing a new pair of premium sunglasses. This is based on full life-cycle analysis consistent with ISO 14040/14044 standards, referencing published data from IPCC AR6, IEA, EPA emission factors, and peer-reviewed LCA studies on consumer products.
